Bring your cards to life with these three pop-up techniques. Learn three pop-up engineering techniques – the box, floating plane and concentric spring supports – as you create three cards. First, you’ll create a card that opens to reveal a gift card ready to unwrap and enjoy, embellished with a three dimensional cake and candle! Second, a butterfly pops up and appears to float above a field of flowers on a card with dry embossed flowers on the front. Last, open this masculine “Gone Fishing” card and a wriggling rainbow trout springs in front of a fluffy lure – perfect for Father’s Day or the sportsman in your life.

You’ll learn how pop-ups differ from other interactive mechanics, the importance of the position of your pop-up, and how you can adapt these forms to create 100s of interactive designs. Joe will also share his favorite resources for learning about paper engineering.

Joe’s work has appeared in numerous magazines and on the television show Crafting At The Spotted Canary (Fall 2011, Episode #213). His pop-up classes at conventions are consistently sold out so don’t miss this opportunity to create interactive cards!
