Mediums, materials, substrates, tools and techniques- a trip to any art supply store can reveal all sorts of things you may never have worked with. In this fun and fast workshop, Joe will mix and match materials to help you learn a variety of techniques while you make a handful of Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) you can keep as a reference for future projects or trade. These small works, 2-1/2″ by 3-1/2″ inches in size, are perfect to experiment with new techniques and materials and fun to swap. We’ll work with stamps, stencils, papers, paints, texture mediums, stains, wood and more!
About Artist Trading Cards (ATCs): Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) is a conceptual art project initiated by the Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann in 1997. He called it a Collaborative Cultural Performance. Artist Trading Cards are 2-1/2″ by 3-1/2″ in size, the same format as modern trading cards (hockey cards or baseball cards). They are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer. They are exchanged and collected by the people all over the world. Many Artiscape attendees come prepared with cards ready to swap. You’ll leave this workshop with cards you can swap or hold on to as a way to remember the techniques you learned.
