The Orient Express originated during the 1880s, and its cars reflected the opulent excesses of late Victorian decorative arts with rich tapestry colors, dark woods, ornate chandeliers, and the generous use of fringe and tassels. Evoke the luxury of traveling on the Orient Express by creating ornate decorative bulb with a lavish tassel. Kits will be available in multiple color combinations for selection on a first-come-first-choice basis. Students will add structure to a glass ornament so that it will support the weight of the tassel, and then will learn how to create a fish-scale pattern with polymer clay canes pre-prepared by the instructor. Finally, they will create a tassel and ornate hook to complete the bulb. While the ornaments bake, the instructor will demonstrate how to work with polymer at home, and create their own leaf canes. Each student will complete at least one ornament.
