The history of film began in the 1890s with the invention of the first motion-picture cameras and the establishment of the first film production companies. Until 1927 movies were produced without sound. January 1926 was the world’s first public demonstration of a true television set. In May 1928 the first TV station, W2XB (forerunner to WRGB), broadcast mechanical television in Schenectady, New York.
