Beyond The Page MDF Family Tree

Beyond The Page MDF Family Tree

Go beyond the page with this fun craft project!

Start with all the pieces of a fiber board “tree” pre-cut; the base, branches, “leafy outline” and 7 oval frames. From there you’ll paint, cover with paper, sand, add photos and distress. The finished project stands about a foot tall and has room for 7 photos (of course, you could use fewer than 7).

This makes a great gift!

Gallery pictures show the finished tree and papers in this kit. After the papers, the photos show other designs made using this MDF (medium-density fiberboard) family tree.

Fiberboard is a type of engineered wood product that is made out of wood fibers. Types of fiberboard (in order of increasing density) include particle board, medium-density fiberboard, and hardboard.

To assemble the tree you’ll need basic paper crafting supplies including small or detail scissors, craft knife and self-healing cutting mat, fine pen liquid adhesive, sepia ink pad and small sponge (for inking the edges of papers and the tree), Emory boards or files to file down the edges of the paper around the boards.

Our complete tree kit comes with:

  • KaiserCraft MDF Tree with 1 narrow oval and 6 larger ovals & hooks
  • 2 pieces of KaiserCraft P1462 12×12 paper; Collage.  Floral with music on one side, shades of green on the other
  • 1 piece of KaiserCraft 12×12 Heiress paper. Has frames that can be cut out that match the MDF frames
  • Brown acrylic paint
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Instructions

Note: The oval frames are attached with small MDF bridges that can be cut with a craft knife, utility knife, small saw or scroll saw.
