A Big Cricut Hello & Chirp to each of you! Welcome to the Cricky Across the 50 Blog Hop hosted by K Andrew of Getting Cricky! If you are here from Patricia Logan of MDN Creates then you are in the right spot. If you just arrived here and would like to start from the beginning please go to K Andrew’s Getting Cricky! For this blog hop, K Andrew is celebrating her big move across the country with a big road trip, and of course, this hop across the 50 states! She has asked us all to post a little bit about the state we are representing, and then to post our favorite craft project.
I am representing the state of Ohio. I moved to Columbus, OH when I graduated college in 1986 and I love this city! Columbus is the capital and largest city in state of Ohio. It was founded in 1812 and has emerged as a technologically sophisticated city.
One of my favorite places to visit and take friends and family is Franklin Park Conservatory (FPC). Built in 1895, FPC is a botanical landmark two miles east of downtown Columbus. It showcases exotic plant collections, special exhibitions, and a signature collection of work by glass artist Dale Chihuly. I love it, because no matter the weather, it’s always beautiful at FPC. I remember taking my mom and dad there for Ameriflora ‘92, where my dad spotted John Glenn and was star-struck to meet an astronaut.
My favorite projects are the very first paper piecings I made with Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) and a Cricut® Expression. This dragon piece was made using the free font Delightful Lil Dragons by Darrian Lynx for Joe Morgan (who loves dragons!). He could be used as embellishment on a card or scrapbook page or made HUGE in vinyl as a piece for a child’s room.
