Steampunk Fish #1

Steampunk Fish Card Made with Viva Las Vegastamps!

Welcome to the Viva Las Vegastamps! blog hop! If you are hopping in order, you should have come here from Rebecca Parsons’ blog.

If this happens to be your first stop, be sure to visit all the blogs by following the links.  For blog candy, Viva Las Vegastamps! is giving away their “Pound O’ Rubber” as the prize.  For anyone who doesn’t know what that is, it’s a grab bag of unmounted red rubber stamps that weighs a pound. That’s a lot of stamps!

To qualify to win the blog candy, you must visit all 8 stops on the hop, plus become a follower of each blog and leave a comment on each to let us know you were there.

For my blog hop project, I decided to go with a steampunk theme since I just got all of these great new stamps that gave me the idea for this card. I used the following stamps and tools for my card:

  • Steampunk Fish Stamp (17447)
  • Vintage Fan Lady on Balloon Stamp (17461) – I only used the basket from the balloon.
  • Believe In Magic Stamp (4586)
  • Ultra High Gloss Embossing Powder from Viva Las Vegastamps!
  • Onyx Black VersaFine Ink pad, Fiskars wave punch, circle punch, Tim Holtz embossing folder, Distress Ink pads, pop-dots & heavy black thread.

First I stamped the fish and sentiment with the VersaFine ink, then embossed with the Ultra High Gloss powder. Then I cut out and covered the whole fish with embossing ink and powdered the whole thing with the clear powder. I embossed the basket portion of the Vintage Lady stamp with copper embossing powder and cut out. I attached the basket to the fish with the thread.

Steampunk Fish Card #2 Made with Viva Las Vegastamps!

For the waves, I used one navy and two medium blue strips of paper and punched them with a Fiskars wave punch. I assembled them with pop-dots and the dragged them across my embossing ink pad and sprinkled them with the Ultra High Gloss Embossing powder and heated.

For the background I inked up the raised side of my embossing folder with yellow and orange Distress Inks, and then ran them through my Vagabond. I then took a blue ink pad and rubbed it over the remaining raised white areas of the paper.  After that, I just inked my edges and assembled the pieces as you see here.

I hope you have enjoyed this stop on our blog hop and I hope my project has either inspired you or given you some new ideas. The next stop on the hop is Dee Dee Catron’s blog.

Have a great time and remember to become a follower and leave a comment on all eight stops to have a chance to win the blog candy!
