Almost a month has past since the Create and Craft team loaded up in the Paper Crafting Express (aka Betty’s van) and headed to Rocky Hill, Kentucky for a fun filled weekend playing with glitter! Rocky Hill is the home of PK Glitz and the Rocky Hill Inn where 11 eager crafters gathered for three themed days of glitter, glitter, and more glitter!
Because there is so much I want to share with you about the retreat, about PK Glitz, and about all the fun we had, I am going to do a four part blog all about it!
Let me introduce you to the owners of PK Glitz and the Rocky Hill Inn, Jim and Janelle Marshall. In 2005, Jim and Janelle purchased Powder Keg (that’s where the PK comes from!) Embossing Powders. In 2007, they began manufacturing “hand blended micro glitter” known as PK Glitz; an din 2008, they moved to Rocky Hill, Kentucky where they purchased what is now known as the Rocky Hill Inn. Built in 1857 as a railroad inn, the house serves as their residence, a bed and breakfast, and an antic store.
Everything about the inn is spectacular! Each of the 3 rooms comes with 2 twin beds, their own bathroom, and are decorated with homey accents and antics. Outside, the house is surrounded with wrap around porches and farm land. The picturesque town of Rocky Hill is just a short stroll across the railroad tracks.
Classes and manufacturing are housed in what was originally a print shop. When you walk through the door, you can’t help but be excited by the amount of glitter! Glitter! Glitter! GLITTER! Bags of glitter! Bins of glitter! Jars and wheels of glitter! There’s plenty of other products to love as well. There is, of course, the very thing that started it all – embossing powder; plus other great complimentary products that go GREAT with the embossing powders and Glitz. I’ll share some of those over the next few days, but for a complete list of products check out www.pkglitz.com.
I know I speak for the entire Create & Craft team when I say not only did we create some beautiful products, but we also made some great friends. Thanks to Veronica Williams, Lori Lewyekyj, Mara Shannon, Stacy Rich, Sandra Anderson, Johnna Bingham, and Diane Heyerly for helping to make the weekend rememberable; but an even bigger thanks goes out to Jim and Janelle for offering this wonderful getaway! We can’t wait for the next retreat!
