Project Description
I love anything that sparkles and shines, so it was only natural that I would pair 3D Crystal Lacquer by Sakura Hobby Craft with glitter. I began this project by printing an image on acetate using a laser printer. Working from the side of the acetate that is not printed, outline one area with the Crystal Lacquer, then fill in the area.
The lacquer comes with its own needle tip applicator to allow the finest, most detailed application of the lacquer. As each area is filled in with the 3D Crystal Lacquer, sprinkle glitter over the lacquer. Tap off excess glitter and move on to the next color of glitter.
While the piece was drying, I cut a frame from cardstock a bit smaller that the acetate tile. When the tile was completely dry, I mounted it to the backside of the frame with the smooth side of the acetate facing the front. The entire piece (frame and tile) was backed with a second piece of cardstock. I used just a spot of the 3D lacquer to add a large rhinestone to the front of the tile.
Glitter and 3D lacquer—a marriage made in craft heaven. Here is a tile I made using this technique. How are you using Sakura 3D Lacquers? You can see more projects on Sakura Hobby Craft’s blog and at their Facebook page.
