Project Description
I’m so excited to be sharing my first project as a member of the USArtQuest Design Team (DT)! I first met Susan Pickering Rothamel at a scrapbook convention in 2009. She was demonstrating technique after technique all while answering questions from the crowd. I watched in awe. She made everything look so easy, I was hooked! I bought one of her many books, The Art of Paper Collage, and a bottle of Perfect Paper Adhesive™ (PPA) and I was ready to roll! Now, 2 years later, I’m on the DT! Please don’t pinch me because I don’t want to wake up from this dream come true!
This project started as a plain frame I picked up at a thrift store for $0.75. It had nice wide borders – lots of space to collage. It finished as a sparkly flower garden filled with birds and butterflies!
And best of all, it’s quick and easy to do!! The project took me somewhere between 60 and 90 minutes. And it was fun! As you put down piece after piece of napkin, you start to see this amazing scene come in to focus. Topping it off with the dazzle you get from Crystal Effectz™ makes it magical. It’s so fun and fast I decided to capture the process on film! Check out this short YouTube video to see the process from start to finish.
See how easy that was? Why not give it a shot? The Napkin Collection from USArtQuest has everything you need to get started. All you need to do is find something fun to cover!
Be sure to check out the other fantastic projects the DT is creating using USArtQuest products on the USArtQuest Blog. Enjoy and Happy Crafting!

Oh Joe, you are so amazing. The video is a very helpful tool. GREAT job.
Oh Joe, this is the perfect gift! :0) I'm sending my blog readers your way. I hope they will enjoy the video as much as I did. I will never look at napkins the same. Plus I love the tip on using pieces of tape to help pull the layers of the napkin apart. Great idea!
And most of Congrats on making the DT for US Art Quest! They are so lucky to have you!!!
I love mine and can't wait to make some for gifts too. Hope to see you soon.
Lee says Hello to you, Joe M and Betty!
Hugs,
Shirley
What a beautiful piece! Amazing how that came together so easily and your video was so easy to follow. Thank you for sharing! Jill
This is outstanding!! I read Shirley's blog post–sounds like she (and Lee) are thrilled with this beautiful gift.
I'll have you know that the night you showed this to Philip and me I ended up dreaming about shopping for napkins for you. I was in a store that had all of their napkins on sale for 64% off (yep, 64%), and they had rows and rows. I was getting frustrated because the napkins were mainly white with maybe a little wreath or poinsettia on them. I did find a package of napkins with soccer players on them and got excited about making a frame for Philip. My plan was to make a soccer ball to attach to it using Carole's fancy putty. Yep, heaven forbid I dream about Ryan Gossling or Jensen Ackles. I have to dream about shopping for napkins for you. Guess that means I lurv ya!
Your frame is absolutely gorgeous. Just came from Stampin with Shirl. What a fantastic gift to give someone. She's a lovely lady. And I know she will treasure that frame. Thanks for the video. I may try this.
